From Noranda to Detroit : Weesy’s version / Lise Melhorn-Boe

Melhorn-Boe, Lise. From Noranda to Detroit: Weesy’s Version. 1982. Many pages. (7 x 5 x 1″) . Archives and Special Collections, University of Calgary.

From the artist’s website: Unbeknownst to me, when I was rubber-stamping my biography, my youngest sister had decided to surprise me with her version of the story of my life, written as a radio play. It arrived in the mail the next day. I was so taken with the synchronicity, I decided to make a second book: for this I had to elicit the help of our mother, asking her to dig through boxes of family photos for specific photos, to illustrate Weesy’s stories. Weesy, or Marie, as she is known to the rest of the world had a radically different perspective: that of the adorable little sister. Traditionally sewn handmade paper pages, with family photo illustrations tipped in, with hard covers.
