Canadian architect. Peter Hemingway was born in Minster, England in 1929. He was trained at an art school in Kent, then came to Canada in the 1950s in response to a Government of Alberta advertisement aimed at recruiting architects. After working at the Alberta Department of Public Works, he entered into a partnership with Charles Laubenthal before taking over as sole proprietor. He died in May 1995.

Awards: 2 Massey medals.

Significant projects include: Muttart Conservatory (Edmonton?); Central Pentacostal Tabernacle (Edmonton); Coronation Swimming Pool (Edmonton); Yellowknife Court House.

Fonds consists of drawings, files, specifications, photographs and slides from the architectural practice of Peter Hemingway Architect Ltd., 1956-1982. Fonds also include copies of articles written by Peter Hemingway.

Title based on contents of fonds.

Acquired by donation in 1978, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1985 and 1987.
