CI – Collections & Information Management
This block covers activities relating to the administration and management of collections and information sources on campus, including library, archival, and museum collections, and the corporate record. It includes planning and acquisition, outreach activities, and the risk management of these collections and information sources.
Activity:
To document matters related to collections and information sources not shown elsewhere in this block. Material of a specific nature should be placed on the appropriate subject file.
Activity:
To document the development and maintenance of systems and discovery tools that provide access to collections, including the digitization of collections and exhibitions; and to document the physical management of collections. Also to document the provision of education and guidance on the use of collections and information sources including reference and consulting services, information literacy training, and copyright. Records may include circulation or loan forms, inventories, correspondence and statistics, and exhibition case files.
Activity:
To document the acquisition and appraisal of collections and information sources, including the negotiation of access rights and donation conditions, and the development of records retention policies. May include the assessment, analysis and development of current collections, and planning for collections development. Records may include collections acquisition case files and mandates, accession and registration forms, agreements, collection reviews and analyses, planning documents and retention rule case files.
