Item is a manuscript written in the Batak language, produced on the flattened and polished bark of the Alim tree, indigenous to southeast Asia. Professor Isadore Dyen, Yale University, authenticated the language as Batak. Batak manuscripts are usually written by medicine men [Datu]. The text embraces divination, magic, medicine and history. Negatives and prints of the manuscript accompany the item.
Manuscript folds accordion-style. - Bound in wooden covers.
Donated by Super S Drugs Ltd. in 1970.
