Canadian barrister-at-law and insurance and real estate agent, born in 1833 in St. John, New Brunswick, son of Joseph and Jane (Whittaker) Fairweather. He was a fourth generation descendant of Thomas Fairweather who moved with other Loyalists to New Brunswick in 1783 from New York. Married to Emma Titus in 1860; father of five children. Published a book of original poems, The stone church bell and other poems, in 1895 in memory of his son Walter Cardwell who died November 17, 1894.
Item is letter to Reverend James Roy presenting a copy of The stone church bell and other poems, apologizing for being unable to spend any time with Rev. and Mrs. Roy during their visit to the parish and expressing appreciation for his sermons.
