The Markin-Flanagan Distinguished Writers Programme Collection of Books, Manuscripts, Sound Recordings and Videotapes

The Markin-Flanagan Distinguished Writers Programme Collection of Books, Manuscripts, Sound Recordings and Videotapes provides a repository for materials relating to the Programme by housing materials from the writers in the programme.

The University of Calgary's Markin-Flanagan Distinguished Writers Programme was established with the concept that it "is intended to benefit the community of readers and writers in Calgary, Alberta and in Canada and to enhance the activities of the Department of English, particularly in its creative writing endeavours. In order to do this, the Distinguished Writers Programme, through a generous endowment, has established two residences: one for an emerging and promising Canadian writer, and another for a distinguished visiting writer of international stature."

Special Collections in co-operation with the Faculty of Humanities and the Department of English is the repository for materials relating to the Programme by housing books, manuscripts, sound recordings and videotapes by the distinguished writers resident at the
