John P.L. Roberts, the CBC and Music in Canada

The John P.L. Roberts, the CBC and Music in Canada Digital Collection contains items from the John P.L. Roberts fonds held at the University of Calgary Archives and Special Collections.  The items include over 100 CBC concert programs which document emerging and accomplished artists, musicians, and composers and their works performed across the country from the 1960s to the 1980s.  Also included is a selection from his academic papers: lectures given by John P.L. Roberts between 1970 and 1995 on topics relating to the changes in media technology and policy and impacts on Canadian cultural sovereignty as well as his 1987 masters thesis 'The golden age of achievement: four aspects of CBC music Programming 1950-1980' which chronicles the miles stones of Canadian art music development and his close association with Glenn Gould.
